Food was really good. Simple menu and easy to choose. Home fries were my favorite, and even the toast was excellent. The server was very attentive and all the staff we interacted with was kind and patient. Loved this place and will be coming back
The Summit Diner was a great experience on a Sunday early afternoon. The coffee was perfect, the food came out quickly and tasted great, and the ambiance was friendly. The breakfast menu has lots of good options but I decided on a veggie omelet that came with hash browns. I also ordered an English muffin. Everything was delicious and I look forward to dining here again. It was a great experience to have a meal in a vintage dining car.
Classic diner food. Huge portions served up in a traditional diner car setting. Family owned business where they cook the food right in front of you on a griddle. This place has delicious food and old school charm. Has a lunch special for 12.75 that include a sandwich, including a gyro and a few other selections, that includes soup, fries, coleslaw, and the sandwich. Enough for two meals for me. My husband grew up in this area and this is one of his favorite local breakfast places. He had bacon, eggs over easy and home fries. They kept the bacon coming. I estimated they fed him a pound of bacon (don't judge). Can't wait to return for breakfast or lunch.
Having been in the town of Summit this past Sunday, I took the opportunity to visit this diner alongside my younger brother. Located in the center of Summit near the train station, the Summit diner was easily accessible, with plenty of options for parking nearby. I wasn't quite sure what to expect given the size of the diner, and its reputation, however I found the environment to be very inviting. Even on a busy Sunday morning, I was immediately seated, and did not have to wait long to place my order. The food itself was the full package, incredibly well priced, prepared quickly, and delicious. I especially appreciated the kindness and the patience of the staff, who assisted my younger brother, answering the many questions he asked them.
We had a lovely breakfast at Summit Diner in Union, NJ! The outdoor seating was perfect, great weather, a charming downtown setting, and we were even able to bring our dog, which made it feel even more welcoming and relaxed. We ordered the Mexican omelette, spinach and feta omelette, French toast with bacon, pancakes and sausage, and coffee. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The ambiance is cozy and classic, just what you’d hope for from a diner experience. That said, there was only one server managing the outdoor tables, which understandably led to longer wait times. She was warm, friendly, and doing her best, but clearly overwhelmed, especially with a line of guests waiting to be seated. Having an extra server would have really improved the flow and made the experience smoother. Overall, it’s definitely worth a visit, especially with family or out-of-town guests, but try to go when you’re not in a rush. We’ll be back!

You have to check this place out! I've dinned in a few times and it's the real deal. The food is great, the vibe is old school, and the staff is friendly. Be ready to stay in line for a minute or two, especially on the weekends, but I totally recommend this place.
Absolutely the best diner you’ll step foot in. Great service and old school genuine North Jersey charm in the heart of Summit. The coffee is great and be sure to get the legendary Taylor ham & egg on a roll. Great diner, great people.
One of the few OG Jersey diners left. I drove over an hour just to come here and made a day out of it with my family. We had to wait for a table, which was to be expected on a Sunday. The service was extremely fast and the food was high quality. You can be in and out in 20 minutes easily. Cash only. I had a chance to talk to the owner and he is an absolute gem. This is easily one of the top diners in Jersey, if not the very best. Do yourself a favor and make the drive from wherever you are in the Garden State to eat here.
Stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday, there was a line of people outside waiting to get in. Wait was well with it!!! Service was great, food was amazing. Corned beef hash was legit! From the look, to service and food, this is exactly what a diner should be. Make it your destination one day, definitely worth the time and trip. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE!
